The purpose of our policy development projects is to create new models of action for elderly care and to provide new information for employees in the field. Areas of interest include currently e.g. geriatric rehabilitation, nutrition of the aged, and day activities for the elderly. The projects are implemented in collaboration with member associations, local authorities, and other partners. The projects are funded mainly with the assistance of the Finnish Slot Machine Association. The results are published as reports in the Unions publication series.
Educational events organized by the Central Union for the Welfare of the Aged highlight contemporary themes and issues in elderly care. Education is organized both for member associations as a part of the Unions membership activities, and in the case of special themes also for other bodies working in the field of elderly care. The experts of the Central Union for the Welfare of the Aged give lectures at educational events and seminars held by other parties. The Union participates actively in the development of national education of elderly care.
The Union publishes reports and guide books for employees in the field of elderly care. The Union is one of the organizers of the yearly Good Age fair and seminar event.
