The Union offers its members information and guidance with respect to currently important issues, holds regional meetings, and provides education.
As a key national organization in elderly care, the Union participates in the preparation of legislation, the work of committees and groups in public administration, and as a member in the activities of national co-operative organizations.


Home repair advice for war veterans and the aged

The home repair instructors at the Central Union for the Welfare of the Aged work all around Finland. They help war invalids and veterans in assessing and planning repair work for their homes, in applying for repair allowances, and in finding contractors to carry out the repairs. The repair advice is provided free of charge. Contact information for the repair instructors can be found on the Union web page.

Activities for seniors

The purpose of activities for seniors is to promote the psychological and social well-being of senior citizens in the metropolitan area. Activities include clubs, groups, volunteer activities, recreational activities, activities with relatives, and public relations work.

Information

The Central Union for the Welfare of the Aged provides the general public information about the aged as well as the Union itself and its member associations. The public relations activities are intended to promote a positive attitude towards old age and the elderly among the public and the employees in the field. The Union publishes the oldest magazine in the field called Vanhustyö [Working with the Aged], which is issued seven times a year.
